October 2020 Garden State Bariatrics & Wellness Center

Today’s interesting fact has some math (don’t worry, it’s simple!).
Did you know that in order to lose one pound, you need a ‘caloric deficit’ of 3,500 calories? That is to say you need to consume 3,500 calories less than your body needs.
Let’s use real numbers to make this easier: Suppose your body requires 2,000 calories every day and you consume 1,500 calories each day (2000-1500 = 500). You have a caloric deficit of 500 calories for that day. if you continue that every day for a week (500 x 7 =3,500)...Congratulations, you just lost a pound!
Bonus interesting fact…did you know you can get your metabolic rate measured at Garden State Bariatrics? It is a tool that helps you know how many calories your body needs every day.
