July 2019 Patient of the Month

July 2019 Patient of the Month Garden State Bariatrics & Wellness Center

If I had to do it all over again, I would do it in a heartbeat!

Bariatric surgery is not a "quick fix." It is a lifestyle change and has to be worked at for the rest of your life. I have always been a "big girl" large boned and tall. I had gained weight over the years and tried many different diets, but could not keep the weight off. I had been overweight since I was a teenager. It started off as just a few pounds here and there, but by age 28, I was nearly 300 pounds. It didn't help that I ate whatever I wanted and did not exercise. I knew I needed to take control, but another diet was not going to work this time. The Staff at Garden State Bariatrics always made me feel comfortable and was very helpful in preparing me for the surgery. I learned so much from the dietitian. She gave me a packet of information with all the details of what would happen before, during and after the surgery. This was by far the best decision I ever made. I have never, ever felt so amazing.
